Mexico announced that it will deport some of the 500 migrants involved in an altercation on the US-Mexico border on Sunday, in which US border guards used tear gas against a group that tried to force its way across the border.
Our chief correspondent Stuart Ramsay and his team have been on the front line of the migrants' struggle to make it across.
The migrants' arrival has been met by some opposition from people in Tijuana, where many shelters were already at capacity, and on the USA side of the border by increased security measures that include members of the military deployed there by President Donald Trump.
"Children screamed and coughed".
Numerous migrants had gathered earlier in the day to protest against being forced to stay in Tijuana instead of being allowed to cross and seek asylum in the US.
"Would be very SMART if Mexico would stop the Caravans long before they get to our Southern Border", Trump wrote on Twitter on Sunday.
Approximately 5,000 migrants reached Tijuana over the past week, after an exhausting trip of up to 2,500 miles (4,000 kilometers) covered in just over a month. Many hope to apply for asylum in the US, but agents at the San Ysidro entry point are processing fewer than 100 asylum petitions a day. "There were many children who fainted".
"42 crossed the border and were arrested", Scott said, adding one group breached a section of the border fence and rushed at police - but were held back using "riot techniques".

Customs and Border Protection officers also released tear gas at a separate point a few hundred yards away to drive back the migrants. The demonstration began at the sports complex where thousands of migrants are staying while they attempt to gain entry to the United States. By Sunday afternoon, CBP reopened crossing lanes in both directions to pedestrians, CBP representative Jackie Wasiluk said.
Trump has called on Mexico and countries farther to the south to take actions that would prevent such migrant caravans from ever reaching the USA border.
"As I have continually stated, D.H.S. will not tolerate this type of lawlessness and will not hesitate to shut down ports of entry for security and public safety reasons", Nielsen said.
"People had thought that they were going to open the gates, but that was a lie", Caballero said.
Mexico doesn't want the migrants any more than the USA does.
But Mexico's incoming government, which assumes power December 1, denied that it is willing to let USA asylum-seekers stay there pending the outcome of their cases in US immigration courts, which could take years.
"There is no agreement of any sort between the incoming Mexican government and the US government", future Interior Minister Olga Sanchez said in a statement. Olga Sánchez Cordero, Mexico's incoming interior minister, as well as a spokesman for incoming President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, have said Mexico won't accept that proposal.
