Palestinian killed by Israeli fire in border clashes

News of the arson attacks comes as terror groups in the Gaza Strip agreed to a temporary ceasefire that includes ending the launch of incendiary devices toward Israel.

Security sources in Gaza said a 13-member Egyptian delegation was in the strip on Tuesday to meet with Hamas officials, the latest in a series of such visits.

The committee is technically independent from Hamas, but includes representatives allied to the Islamist movement. The Israeli army claim they placed an explosive device on a security fence.

The Gaza Strip faces a severe electricity shortage, high unemployment and lack of clean water, among other humanitarian concerns.

At least 218 Palestinians have been killed since the start of this mobilization in Gaza on 30 march, according to a count by the AFP.

Hamas will also act on limiting the participants in the marches at a distance of 500 meters far from the border.

Seven Palestinians died in renewed clashes along the border last Friday.

A total of 11 people were killed Saturday , in what is believed to be the deadliest attack on Jews in USA history. Services were also held for Jerry Rabinowitz, a 66-year-old family physician, and retiree Daniel Stein, 71.

Ongoing Egyptian efforts to end the months of violence have also hit stumbling blocks over disagreement amongst Palestinian factions and the staunch opposition of the West Bank-based Palestinian Authority, which says that any agreement brokered without its consent would legitimize Hamas' rival administration in Gaza.

Both groups praised Egyptian and United Nations efforts to broker a deal.

According to United Nations agencies, between 30 March and 6 October, 205 Palestinians have been killed and 22 267 injured during demonstrations along the perimeter fence.

According to Euro-Med, as Gaza protests continue, "one Palestinian is killed every single day" by Israeli forces.

Demonstrators are calling for Palestinian refugees to be allowed to return to the homes their families fled or were expelled from in the 1948 war surrounding the creation of Israel and which are now inside the Jewish state.

Euro-Med described the continued use of excessive force by Israeli forces against Palestinian protesters at the Israel-Gaza fence as "deeply shocking", adding that in the 200 days of protests, Gaza lost 205 residents.
