Premier League giants Chelsea have qualified for the next round of the 2018 Carabao Cup after beating visiting lower League side Derby County 3-2 on Wednesday night, October 31.

Lampard said: "The third goal was a foul".

This fourth-round clash provided an opportunity to do so and Lampard was serenaded throughout by Chelsea supporters, and he responded by acknowledging them and the Derby fans at the end.

The lead lasted for five minutes before Martyn Waghorn equalised for the Rams for the second time in the first half.

The Blues labored to get this victory in front of their fans thanks to Spanish football star Cesc Fabregas who scored the winning goal for Maurizio Sarri's men. "I'm a lucky man to have a night like that and I feel it".

Lewis Wing grabbed the only goal in first-half injury time with a swerving shot from long range.

The straight line power of his Mercedes nosed his vehicle in front until Verstappen cut under him at the first corner. Daniel Ricciardo went from pole position to yet another disaster as engine failure doomed his vehicle yet again.

Tomori and Richard Keogh scored own goals for Derby, who fought back on both occasions through Jack Marriott and Martyn Waghorn, before Cesc Fabregas' 41st-minute strike proved to be the victor.

A full 21 minutes had passed before the next goal flew in, with a fluffed clearance once again leading a Derby defender, namely Richard Keogh, to put through his own net in embarrassing fashion... "I joke because I'm proud", Lampard told Sky Sports.

Chelsea assistant boss Gianfranco Zola admitted the Blues' performance left plenty of room for improvement.

Derby manager Lampard, who enjoyed 13 hugely successful years as a Chelsea player, watched his side put up a courageous fight against their Premier League opponents, twice levelling the match after calamitous own goals.

Zola added: "Even today should've been a routine win".

Derby have not won in any of their previous eight visits to Stamford Bridge and will have to pull off a herculean task if they are to come away with something in the end.
