Pompeo also said that the State Department is working with the Treasury Department on the applicability of global Magnitsky sanctions to the Saudis responsible.

Appearing on a discussion panel at the worldwide investment conference, Prince Mohammed said the case of the murdered journalist was "painful".

The crown prince said Saudi Arabia and Turkey would work together "to reach results" in their joint investigation into Khashoggi's death, and he described cooperation between the two countries as "special".

On Tuesday afternoon, President Trump declared the Khashoggi "cover-up" one of the "worst in the history of cover-ups". "I think is in big trouble".

Saudi Arabia's crown prince is scheduled to address an investment forum in Riyadh today, his first public speech since the murder of critic Jamal Khashoggi plunged the kingdom into crisis.

Amid pressure, Saudi Arabia acknowledged last week that the 59-year-old writer had died in what it said was a "fistfight".

Now, the former SC baseball great is World Series MVP. "Remember this, and come back next year-come back even stronger". Many streets around Fenway Park will be closed to traffic from 10 p.m. until 3 a.m. on game nights, no matter who wins.

In his attempt to criticise the Khashoggi murder without criticising Riyadh, Trump worded his statement to nearly sound like he was unhappy with how the killing and the subsequent cover-up was executed. "I said, 'Where did it start?' And he said it started at lower levels".

Saudi authorities have detained 18 people in connection with Khashoggi's death, which officials say was accidental despite Turkish allegations that Khashoggi was intentionally killed.

Mr Al Falih said the murder of Khashoggi was regrettable, adding that "nobody in the kingdom can justify it".

On Wednesday, the king spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron while Prince Mohammed held his first call since the killing with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

For Saudi Arabia's allies, the burning question has been whether they believe that Prince Mohammed, who has painted himself as a reformer, has any culpability in the killing, a possibility raised by several USA lawmakers.

Trump told reporters that Erdogan was pretty tough on Saudi Arabia.

But he also said that does not want the United States to lose investments from Riyadh, a close USA ally. "There obviously was a tremendous mistake made, and what compounded the mistake was the attempt to try to cover up".

Mr Trump also said he had spoken to Prince Mohammed, who "strongly said that he had nothing to do with this".
