No one was injured during the fire.

Authorities say a man apparently set a California home on fire while using a blowtorch to kill spiders.

The young man also managed to escape the blaze which took place in the Woodward Lake housing development unscathed.

About 30 firefighters were able to quickly put out the fire, which was reported late Tuesday night (Wednesday NZ time), KWQC Channel 6 reports.
