Tesla building DIY vehicle carriers to deliver Model 3

  • Model 3 Tesla starts making its own car carriers to support Q3’s Model 3 delivery push

While quarter-end discounting isn't necessarily new at Tesla - and the incentives aren't big by auto-industry standards - there's a greater urgency behind the effort now because of the pressure Musk is under to deliver on his promise that the company will start generating profits in the second half of the year. Earlier this month, Musk acknowledged that the company was facing more logistical problems now than production delays.

Tesla is even turning to its current Model 3 owners for assistance, asking them to educate new Model 3 customers by providing an overview of the features and functions of the auto. "A Tesla Customer Experience Professional will drive your vehicle to your home or office", Los Angeles metro area delivery manager Jeremy Pomp emailed customers.

The Tesla CEO has also in the past tweeted that the company was in "production hell" when it encountered bottlenecks in the production process of the Model 3, although these problems have been quelled, with Tesla reporting targets for Model 3 production being hit.

While delivering the cars directly a customer's home or office makes it more convenient for customers waiting for their cars, it is also a way for Tesla to speed up deliveries and increase its Model 3 sales numbers and deliveries before the end of Q3 on September 30. This was after Elon Musk came forward asking for volunteers to help deliver the cars to their customers.

In a tweet, Musk wrote, "Wow, thanks for offering to help!"

Ginsburg cheers on #MeToo movement in advance of Kavanaugh-Ford hearing
Chuck Grassley, a Republican from Iowa, has said the committee's own investigation will suffice. Trump said he "could be persuaded" by Ford's testimony.

Tesla, however, doesn't follow this kind of business model since it sells cars directly to the consumers.

A follower of Musk in the aforementioned social media platform had inquired earlier about his order of a Model 3 All Wheel Drive (AWD) which he reportedly placed back in June.

Tesla delivered 18 449 Model 3s in the second quarter, according to the shareholder letter, and said in July that 11 166 were in transit to customers.

The stocks of Tesla have tumbled with 3.4%, following the news of the possible criminal investigation of the company. The company said it was co-operating and that the matter "should be quickly resolved".
