  • Anonymous official cites Trump ‘amorality’ in NY Times op-ed

Several members of President Donald Trump's administration have denied writing an anonymous New York Times op-ed that criticizes Trump, as people speculate over who could be behind the article.

"I asked him whether or not this was true", Trump said as he met with Republican lawmakers.

However, allegations that Mattis is intervening regularly to avert national security disasters have once again raised the question of whether military commanders possess the authority to refuse a direct order from the President under certain circumstances.

The White House immediately slammed the piece and called on the person who authored it to resign.

Trump has dismissed the book, which will be released Tuesday, as "total fiction". "It's very important whether this is somebody who witnessed and participated", Woodward said. The president, for his part, turns ever more apoplectic, screaming not only about "witch hunts" but also "treason" as he hunts for disloyal leakers.

If anything, the anonymous sources in Woodward's book, and the author of the op-ed, are seeking to protect the American people and the U.S. government from a president and top advisors who seek to dismantle it.

Last month, Trump reportedly canceled Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's trip to North Korea after the country sent out a mysterious letter, pointing to potential hostilities between the two leaders. Some who agreed with the writer's points suggested the president's reaction actually confirmed the author's concerns. "That person should be found out and stopped", Giuliani said.

The Browns were often mentioned as a candidate to land Mack, but he wound up in Chicago with the Bears . Donald, another preseason no-show, came to terms on a six-year, $135 million contract with the Rams.

"Whereas right now we're talking about the substance of what's in the op-ed", he said.

Meanwhile, denials from key administration officials pour in. "A wounded lion is a very risky animal, and I think Donald Trump is wounded".

"There's virtually no context in which this kind of op-ed comes within a mile of federal criminal law", said Stephen Vladeck, a law professor at the University of Texas.

The 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution spells out measures that can be taken to remove a sitting president. "The root of the problem is the president's amorality", anonymous opinion piece writes.

Woodward also reported that Cohn took another memo off Trump's desk that, had the president signed it, would have initiated the process for the United States to withdraw from the North American Free Trade Agreement with Canada and Mexico. "It shows a complete misunderstanding of how this White House works, and what President Trump provides for this country every day is strong and decisive leadership in the Oval Office".

Trump on Twitter quoted a Fox News description of the event without long-range nuclear missiles as a sign of North Korea's "commitment to denuclearize".
