The Dallas Cowboys reportedly made a big trade offer for a star National Football League player in advance of the 2018 regular season. According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Seahawks have agreed to wipe away nearly all of his fines for missing training camp.
Thomas has not participated in any activities with the Seahawks since the end of the 2017 season in an attempt to get an extension on a four-year, $40 million contract that runs out after the 2018 season.
According to multiple National Football League insiders, though, the Cowboys tried multiple times to acquire Thomas - who went to high school outside Beaumont and played college ball at Texas - during his holdout in Seattle.
"I worked my whole life for this...."
In addition to that, Rapoport also reported that the Dallas Cowboys, whose interest in Earl Thomas has never been a secret, have shown their willingness to throw a third-round pick in a prospective deal.
He addressed his absence from the team in an Instagram post on Wednesday.
Thomas took to instagram today to announce he will report to Seahawks camp today, but it's clear he doesn't expect to be back in Seattle after this season. He urged that the team either pay him or trade him to a team willing to commit to him long-term. "Seattle wasn't interested; it wants more", Schefter reports.
Thomas wrote, "The disrespect has been noted and will not be forgotten".
Wednesday's news of Thomas reporting to his current team might well lead to both sides considering it a stalemate. Time will tell, but for now, Thomas will remain in Seattle.
