Republicans 'cherry-picked' Russian Federation probe documents to quiz USA official: Democrats

Former U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade says it may explain President Trump's recent criticism of Ohr.

Democrats on the House Oversight and Judiciary committees say their Republican counterparts have cherry-picked from Justice Department documents to promote a misleading narrative about the closed-door questioning of a senior Justice Department official this week, according to a letter released Friday.

In addition to the July 30 meeting, Ohr and Steele spoke multiple times in 2016 and into 2017, and Ohr reported those conversations back to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Who is Bruce Ohr, anyway?

Ohr said he met in late 2017 with two senior Justice Department officials, Scott Schools and James Crowell, who told him they were unhappy he had not proactively disclosed his meetings with Steele. Ohr's wife, Nellie, was also a contractor for Fusion GPS.

"Ohr's wife was financially benefitted by Ohr, a DOJ official, advancing the Steele phony dossier".

National Football League trade rumors: Jets deal QB Teddy Bridgewater to Saints
He started 28 games in two seasons with the Vikings, with a stat line of 551/851, 6,150 yards, 28 touchdowns and 22 interceptions. The trade occurred one day shy of the two-year anniversary of Bridgewater's horrific knee injury with the Minnesota Vikings .

Steele assembled a dossier on Trump for research firm Fusion GPS, which was hired by Democratic Party lawyers and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's campaign. The materials were not among 800,000 pages of documents provided by the Justice Department to their panels, they said.

They said he was being stripped of his associate deputy attorney post as part of a planned internal reshuffling, people familiar with Ohr's account told the AP.

Steele and Ohr, at the time of the 2016 presidential election a senior official in the deputy attorney general's office, had first met a decade earlier and developed a rapport over a shared interest in global organized crime. But the investigation was opened because of conversations involving former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos, and not the dossier, FBI and congressional officials have said. Trump supporters accuse Ohr of cooperating with Steele on the dossier that outlined Russian financial ties and salacious personal details.

In one instance, members read from an email in which Steele wrote to Ohr that he wanted to discuss something with him informally.

Ohr's communications with Steele were blessed by former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, though he did not inform his supervisor, then-Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, about the meetings, according to the source with knowledge of Ohr's testimony. Hayden cautiously said it's still a "single data point" and "raw information" that would be used as a "departure point" for an investigation, not the endpoint.

"And if Jeff Sessions won't, he should step down and let someone do it".
