  • A concert featuring Ice Cube was expected to go on as scheduled following a shooting Sunday evening in Del Mar Calif

- A San Diego sheriff's's deputy shot a man at the Del Mar racetrack who officials say pulled out a gun and fired it at the ticket window after he learned that rapper Ice Cube's concert had been sold out.

The shooting took place as the horses were racing down the stretch of the 10th race. A man in a black and white uniform with a walkie-talkie on his belt was then shown trying to restrain another man.

A witness posted video from near the entrance to the fairgrounds with audio of gunshots and video of police surrounding a man rolling on the ground. The initial shots appeared to go off near the venue's racetrack, where TVG announcers covering a race screamed out "gunfire" live on air.

Sheriff's deputies responded by returning fire, hitting Elizarraras multiple times in the torso and arm. "Deputies engaged and returned fire", the statement said. To our knowledge, no one else was injured. Passing concert-goers can be heard shouting expletives after the shooting.

The Sheriff's Homicide Detail will give another media briefing when more information is available.

"The racetrack has always been refuge from realities of our World, today shortly after last race at Del Mar Racing, several shots were fired yards from our TVG set during brawl outside Fountain admission gate", Schrupp wrote.
