How Hamilton forced Ferrari's implosion - F1

  • Italy Grand Prix Sebastian Vettel

Championship leader Lewis Hamilton delivered one of his greatest races Sunday when he wrecked Ferrari's homecoming party as he stormed to a record-equalling fifth Monza victory in his Mercedes at the Italian Grand Prix.

Sebastian Vettel has only himself to blame for colliding with Lewis Hamilton on the opening lap of the Italian GP, saying the German "keeps" making mistakes.

Pole-sitter Raikkonen made a good start and led for Ferrari as Vettel was attacked behind him by Hamilton, who took the outside line going into the chicane and found the pace to move narrowly ahead.

The Briton's sixth win of the season lifted him to 256 points, to his German rival's 226. Unfortunately I was the one that spun around which is a bit ironic but was that way.

"At the beginning I tried to overtake Kimi in Turn 1 and 4, but I couldn't".

Lewis Hamilton believes the intensity of his Formula One fight with Sebastian Vettel is the greatest he has ever experienced. "I left him space".

"For sure I think we had the speed [to win] but then the tyre went and there was nothing left in the end on the left rear", Raikkonen said after the race. I could see some sparks, but we sit so low we don't see so much but I felt that something was not right and it was pointless so I came in.

Mexico president-elect wants Canada in new NAFTA
The report said Ottawa tried to offer more dairy market access to the US during NAFTA talks in May, but the USA declined. The NAFTA renegotiations had dragged on for a year before the tentative agreement with Mexico was announced Monday.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen was handed a five-second penalty for refusing to give Hamilton's Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas room and pushing him off track. That's my fuel and the positivity I get from them.

"I thought it should be just the nose, I didn't see all the bits on the side, but when I got going again it was quite awful to drive".

"It just damaged the auto a little bit but I was able to continue and the rear was moving around a little bit more so it made it a little bit more hard, but not impossible".

Both drivers complained on team radio but an investigation decided that no further action was necessary. "It was obviously unnecessary, it could have been the other way around, but it wasn't so it was unfortunate and unlucky for us".

Moments later, Hamilton was in the lead after passing Raikkonen on lap four, only for the 38-year-old to bite back two corners later. "So, I really enjoyed it thoroughly, to be honest".

"Secondly I want to say a huge thank you to the guys back home at the Mercedes factory". I had the experience a few years ago of being on the inside and it didn't come off too well.

"It is very, very easy to allow it to get to you, to allow it to have an impact on your life and have you think about it, all these different things".
