Iran's semi-official Fars news agency reports that a man taking part in a protest in the northern province of Alborz was fatally shot.

In Tehran, street demonstrators chanted "Death to the dictator", according to a social media video, which could not be independently verified.

The rhetoric between the US and Iran remains heated, despite Trump tweeting last week that he would be willing to meet with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

"Most have two passports and their families are overseas".

China has rejected US requests to cut Iranian oil imports, damaging Washington's efforts to isolate Tehran.

After withdrawing from the 2015 nuclear pact with Iran in May, President Donald Trump's administration said it wants to cut Iran's oil exports entirely by a November 4 deadline.

On Sunday Iran Air will take delivery of five ATR commercial aircraft from the French-Italian firm, slipping in under the wire before the sanctions return.

The matter is awkward for Germany because the government is also committed to keeping alive the 2015 deal it, along with the U.S. and other world powers, signed with Iran which provides incentives in exchange for Tehran not pursuing a nuclear weapon.

Priceless royal crowns stolen in Sweden, thieves get away on motor boat
Two crowns worn by Karl IX and Queen Kristina , as well as a royal orb, were taken from the 13th Century Strangnas Cathedral. Thomas Agnevik , a police spokesman, told Swedish TV that the regalia were " invaluable objects of national interest ".

The official confirmed that during July delegations would be dispatched to Beijing and Delhi to press home the case, having already visited the capitals of other major Iranian oil importers.

On Tuesday, the reimposition of USA sanctions will include purchasing of United States dollars, trade in gold and precious metals, coal and industrial-related software, U.S. imports of Iranian carpets, foodstuffs and some financial transactions.

The first round of U.S. sanctions on Iran goes into effect on August 6, followed by ones targeting Iran's oil exports on November 4.

Iran says the sanctions are endangering lives by blocking the sale of new planes and spare parts for its ageing fleets.

Some smaller foreign companies have vowed to get around the U.S. sanctions but large multinational firms such as France's Total and Peugeot, and Germany's Siemens have already announced they'll abide by the sanctions.

Increased US hostility has also driven a run on Iran's currency, which has lost around two-thirds of its value in six months.

"There is a massive loss of confidence in the financial system and the government's ability to control things and withstand sanctions".
