President Donald Trump is calling for voters to show photo identification at the polls, wrongly claiming that's already needed to buy groceries.

- President Trump held a campaign-style rally at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa Tuesday - his first political event in the area since taking office.

Trump had been railing against the idea of allowing noncitizens to vote, saying, "Only American citizens should vote in American elections". Photo IDs are required for certain purchases, such as alcohol, cigarettes or cold medicine.

"I'm confident that there's an bad lot of Trump-Putnam voters out there who want a governor who actually understands the challenges facing them and puts them first", said Putnam, who also has lauded Trump's record as president. "We have a great cabinet now, a couple of little changes, but we have a great cabinet", Trump said.

Trump campaigned on a promise of building a wall to deter illegal immigration and to make Mexico pay for it. Mexico has refused, leading Trump to look to US taxpayers to fund the endeavor instead, at least for now. Bill Nelson, who is being challenged by Trump ally Gov. Rick Scott in a high-profile Senate race. It helps bind him to supporters who feel bitter about Washington institutions they believe have cast them cruelly aside.

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday issued a defiant defence of his trade policies, praising American farmers for weathering Chinese tariffs and telling a crowd at a rally for Republican candidates that "the days of plundering American jobs and American wealth, those days are over". "These are people who don't care about people pouring into our country when they shouldn't be here", Trump said, in a searing attack on Democratic candidates.

Trump asserted Tuesday night at a rally in Tampa, Florida, that he's the most popular person in the Republican Party. Last month, the company was told that David Koch, 78, was stepping down because of his deteriorating health.

With DeSantis surging in the polls ahead of Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam, it appears that faith is well-placed.

President Trump traveled to Tampa on Tuesday for a rally in support of two Florida Republicans running for office, but for more than an hour, he talked about a wide-range of other issues, including tariffs, polls, and the US embassy in Jerusalem. Bernard said she decided she'd vote for DeSantis as soon as she heard he had Trump's favor.

He added that "the only time you don't need it in many cases is when you want to vote for a president, when you want to vote for a senator, when you want to vote for a governor or a congressman".

In Tampa, Trump also alluded to the possibility of a government shutdown at the end of September, saying he "may have to do some pretty drastic things" to get funding for a wall.

DeSantis, whose campaign has featured frequent guest appearances on Fox News, has clung closely to Trump in the campaign.

In doing so, he said buying groceries requires an ID.
