YouTube's new dark mode finally arrives on Android after iOS roll out

The feature, which inverts the colour scheme so that the background is black with text picked out in white, is created to reduce eye strain and to make using the app in low-light conditions more pleasant.

Worth mentioning, the dark theme was first introduced in the web version after the feature first debuted last March. There's an option to turn it off, as well as one that dismisses it.

After a long wait, Google is finally testing dark mode on Android. Those who saw the change were also served with a pop-up informing them about the switch and the option to revert to the light theme. It applies to every page that was previously white, including settings, searches, and so forth.

According to Tech Crunch, the dark theme on YouTube for Android is in the early phases of a gradual roll out. We can only hope that the feature hits everyone sooner than later, but we all know how Google likes to toy with our emotions. Well, a darker interface can be more pleasant to the eyes, especially if you're in a dark room.

However, the roll out for the new feature is not universal, meaning not all devices can now take advantage of it. In addition, users can also go into the General Settings option and toggle it on or off. Reports have confirmed the pitfall of using apps with white background in the low light conditions.
