The Wales worldwide, who joined the club in 2008, is in the final year of his contract.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has described Aaron Ramsey as a "symbol" for Arsenal as talks continue over a new contract for the Wales midfielder.

"That's something that my agent and the club are discussing to try and get something done".

The announcement will be made official once Arsenal return from their pre-season trip to the Far East.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Ramsey said: "We'll see what happens, but my agent and the club are talking".

Nzonzi, who was part of France's World Cup-winning squad, has previous Premier League experience with Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City, and as such, is thought to be Arsenal's final transfer target of the summer.

The Gunners have been busy in the summer market, bringing in five new signings already as Emery prepares for his first season in charge at the Emirates Stadium.

"It's always hard when a new manager comes in, for him to get his ideas across to the team and for it to just click straight away, but hopefully that will be the case".

"We're going to be very happy if Aaron stays because he's a very important player for Arsenal and obviously he's a huge player for the philosophy of Unai Emery", he said.

However, the North Londoners will face stiffer tests in the coming season and a good test of their title credentials lies in wait when they take on La Liga side Atletico Madrid in Singapore on Thursday (1700 IST).
