Lewis Hamilton on Monday accepted Kimi Raikkonen's apology for a shunt at the start of the British Grand Prix Sunday.

Hamilton's Silver Arrows colleague Valtteri Bottas will start tomorrow's British Grand Prix from fourth place on the grid behind the Ferrari's of Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen.

Vettel now leads the title race with 171 points, eight ahead of Hamilton on 163 while Raikkonen is third on 116.

While Hamilton produced a breath-taking lap in Saturday qualifying to put his Mercedes on pole position, Ferrari largely matched their pace around the demanding Silverstone track.

Vettel was left stuck between the two Mercedes drivers as Bottas took the lead.

It was Ferrari's first win in Britain since 2011.

Bottas was fourth with Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo fifth and Nico Hulkenberg sixth for Renault. Pierre Gasly was 10th for Toro Rosso.

'It's been a good Friday, ' said Vettel. It was not so easy to find a way through.

Raikkonen received punishment for the contact: a ten-second penalty that he served in the pits on the 14th lap.

"It was my mistake", he said.

While the German manufacturer has taken pole position at the last three grands prix, on each occasion Ferrari has caused trouble by being able to make much better getaways.

Pompeo Heads to North Korea to Firm Up Denuclearization Plans
Mr Pompeo's upbeat mood appeared to continue following the two sides' first meeting, which lasted three hours. Trump said after the Singapore summit that Kim had agreed to send the remains back to the United States.

On another sweltering afternoon in central England, with a track temperature of 53 degrees Celsius (127 degrees Fahrenheit), the drama began immediately. Bottas hadn't defend strongly, and thereafter he sunk down the order, his 31-lap-old tyres flagging.

Hamilton can not afford a repeat of the botched start that saw him slip from pole to third where he was hit from behind by Raikkonen which cost him a victory and more vital points lost to Vettel. [It] was nothing to do with anger, I was literally just exhausted both physically and emotionally'.

He was soon up to 16th and by lap nine he was eighth, but some distance from Vettel, who led Bottas by six seconds on lap 12. Verstappen could do little to stop Raikkonen from blasting past in his Ferrari before he retired in the closing stages with a mechanical problem.

By the end of lap three, Hamilton was 14th.

A furious finale to match the frantic first lap looked certain when Ericsson then crashed at Turn One.

"Obviously the safety vehicle spiced it up, but it was a nice battle", he said.

"This is the greatest race of the year and the greatest crowd, I am sorry I could not bring it home for you today", Hamilton told the crowd.

Reading a text message sent to him by Vowles after the race, Wolff said: "There were a number of unfair comments against you (Wolff) after Austria".

After the Sauber wreckage was cleared, the race resumed only for Romain Grosjean to collide with Carlos Sainz at the high-speed Copse corner.

On re-start, at Stowe, Bottas pulled away.

Oliver Brown of The Daily ' writes: "Whatever Ferrari's true motive was, the ferocious fighting under turquoise Silverstone skies propelled Hamilton's contest with Vettel into the next dimension".
