  • Bloomberg says Apple will unveil ARKit 2.0 new Apple Watch models and more at WWDC

Apple will reveal what is next for the software that powers the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch later on Monday.

The change, to be included in Apple's iOS 12, will allow iPhones - which have contained NFC-capable chips since the iPhone 6 and 6s were introduced in 2014 - to unlock doors with similar NFC chips as well as talk to certain transit agencies to pay fares, the report said. The June 4-8 event at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California, however, may spring some surprises as rumours of some hardware launches and upgrades are also making the rounds this year. We probably won't see new MacBooks, a new iPad Pro, or the iPhone 11 on stage during the event, but Apple will use Monday's keynote to showcase new software its got planned for 2018. Ideally, GDPR-level control for users should become standard for all apps across Apple's multiple operating systems.

That said, it doesn't help that another rumored feature that developers are going to have at, ARKit 2.0, will allow users to play games with other users in the same augmented reality space. There are some reports out of China that the new model may have already gone into production.

There also might be some news about Apple's streaming service. But those won't be ready until later this year, according to people familiar with the plans. I expect Apple to announce a few features in its operating systems that make them more secure and cut down on the vulnerabilities. Just like with any major iOS update, Apple is rolling it OTA (over the air) which means that iPhone owners need to keep their eyes peeled at the notifications panel because the update should arrive anytime now.
