  • Parents in US sue 30-year-old son as he refuses to move out of their house

The promise of adventure didn't do it.

Christina and Mark Rotondo sit in New York State Supreme Court on May 22, 2018 during a proceeding where a judge told their son he must vacate their home in Camillus, N.Y.

"I'm getting together the means to do that", he said.

The parents said subsequent letters they sent included offers to help him financially and advice to get a job, but their son ignored all of them, Fox 5 reports. It's one thing to live rent-free.

Soon after, the parents sent another note which read: "Michael Joseph Rontodo, you are hereby evicted". Note: You will need stuff at (redacted). He tried to take the podium up with him.

Rotondo has been living at his parent's home for the past eight years and does not pay rent.

Despite the outcome, Rotondo said his fight isn't over yet.

The Daily Mail reported that Rotondo filed a discrimination lawsuit against Best Buy past year, arguing that he was sacked for being unable to work on Sundays because of his court visitation schedule. At one point, he referred to them as "the petitioner". Rotondo is calling his parent's effort "retaliatory". Rotondo, who is a single parent of a son, claimed he was promised he wouldn't have to work on Halloween in 2015 and that he was reprimanded and eventually terminated when he didn't show up that day. Rotondo dismissed his work as a simple internet search that took only minutes.

Digital payments giant PayPal is to swallow up Swedish financial technology start-up iZetttle for $2.2bn (£1.6bn). After the acquisition, Jacob de Geer will continue to lead iZettle, and will report to PayPal COO Bill Ready.

The judge then asked Mr Rotondo's parents to produce an eviction order to be signed in court, giving their son reasonable time to vacate.

After the court hearing he returned to his parents' house.

The case is being seen as an extreme example of a growing trend. I've been trying to leave there for a long time. This would also include Rotondo. Rotondo vowed to appeal before heading back to his parent's house, Syracuse.com reported. He says he became a father during the brief time when he lived on his own.

Most parents are living the life of "empty nesters" by the time their children reach 30, but one USA couple had to go to court to give their son that extra little push.

"Honestly, I'm not sure exactly how it ended".

"I don't presently expect to be there three months from now", he told the judge.

"After a while it just kind of beats itself down to where there's nothing left", he said. When asked about that further, however, he would only say: "My business is my business". He said he did - but he refused to say what it entails. He also said he has a business to support himself, but declined to elaborate.

"I am just so outraged", he said outside court.
