The company has also claimed in the past that Google's Android data exfiltration activities go as far as recording the cell mast users' smartphones are connected to. Everyone who uses Google services must agree to these terms and conditions, but there is now a debate over whether this consent is valid.

The senators say that Android users who enable the Location History feature "deepen the volume and invasiveness of collection across devices" by Google.

Blumenthal and Markey said they asked Google CEO Sundar Pichai for answers, but received a response that raised further questions about their "characterization of basic consumer protection terms".

Now, the Australian competition and privacy regulator are investigating Oracle's claim that data from the Android devices tell the location of a user to Google, even if the location services are turned off, or even if there is no SIM in the smartphone. Users can choose to use Google's Location Service on Android devices to provide a network-based location.

Transferring that information to Google means using up gigabytes of data that consumers have paid for under data packages purchased from telecoms, according to the Oracle report. Oracle has now openly reported the matter to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), which is investigating the case.

However, beaming that much data back to Google costs gigabytes of mobile data that customers have unknowingly have been unknowingly paying for thinking that it reflects their data usage.

Google has been accused by software giant Oracle of exfiltrating up 1GB of data from Android phones every month without the explicit consent of users.

Though the search giant says that it tracks user data only after a user has consented, all Android users know how such consent is obtained.

As per the allegations, location data along with other major data points of Android users are being sent to Google servers using Android users' own data, which is approximately 1 GB, per month.

"Users can see what data is collected and how it's used in one easy place, My Account, and control it all from there".
