Giuliani Opens His Mouth Again, Says Trump Denied AT&T-Time Warner Merger

  • AT&T Chief Calls Hiring Michael Cohen as Consultant a 'Big Mistake'

"There is no other way to say it - AT&T hiring Michael Cohen as a political consultant was a big mistake", Stephenson's memo to employees said.

Critics claim Rudy Giuliani's opinions are making a lot more problems for the president, while supporters say that the fellow member of Trump's legal workforce is shifting social media storyline; Foxnews subscribers Judy Miller along with Tammy Bruce unite the debate.

AT&T paid Essential Consultants LLC, a firm set up by Cohen, a total of $600,000 over 2017 for the advice.

"I don't know [if AT&T] had to register him, based on what I've learned and what has come out in media reports. They didn't get the result they wanted", said Giuliani, Trump's lawyer.

"The conversation focused on how AT&T can work with the Trump administration to increase investment in the US, stimulate job creation in America, and make American companies more competitive globally", the company said.

Earlier this week, the telecommunications giant said it had co-operated when contacted late past year by investigators from the office of Robert Mueller, the special counsel looking into allegations of Russian interference in the 2016 election campaign.

In a fact sheet that accompanied the memo, AT&T said Cohen approached them about working on their behalf in the post-election transition.

On Friday, Sen. Ron Wyden of OR, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, opened an inquiry into the arrangement between Cohen and Novartis, alleging that at the time of the deal the company was negotiating with Medicare on the price of a costly cancer drug. Previously, he led AT&T's work before the Federal Communications Commission as the company's senior vice president for regulatory affairs.

According to a person familiar with the matter who requested anonymity to describe ongoing litigation, Delrahim was not aware of AT&T's payments to Cohen. "Novartis paid Mr. Cohen hundreds of thousands dollars more than it paid its big-shot lobbyists in Washington".

Trump's newest personal lawyer, told HuffPost that Mr. Trump "denied the merger" between the two companies, contradicting earlier statements from the White House and Department of Justice that the president was not involved.

It reported that the documents showed the company turned to Cohen three days after Trump was elected, seeking his help on a wide range of issues pending before the federal government.

Novartis said this week it had also spoken with Mueller's team about the payments to Cohen. The Department of Justice's opposition to the detail raised eyebrows because, while its position may be defensible on antitrust grounds, it doesn't fit with the rest of the Trump administration's laissez-faire ideology. How do we meet his management team at least to get an idea of how they think about things?

But Judge Richard J. Leon of U.S. District Court in Washington has been strict about keeping politics out of the case, which focuses on antitrust law and whether the deal would violate competition policy and harm consumers.
