Authorities believe Riess, who fled Minnesota in late March after allegedly shooting and killing her husband, David, targeted Hutchinson because the two women looked alike, then stole her identity after killing her.

Riess is accused of killing her husband at their residence outside of Blooming Prairie in March and a Florida woman vacationing in Fort Myers Beach last week.

Lee County Undersheriff Carmine Marceno says that although Riess "may look like anyone's mother or grandmother, she's an absolute cold-blooded murderer".

Riess remains on the run and is armed and risky, Marceno said. Her identification, credit cards and auto keys were gone.

Investigators believe Riess is driving Hutchinson's vehicle, a white Acura TL, last seen with Florida license plate Y37TAA.

From Iowa, police believe, Riess drove to Lee County, Florida.

NBC News reported Riess had a gambling addiction.

"It's just evil that flowed through". Hutchinson's purse was found in disarray and her keys were missing.

Authorities also have said they suspect that after David Riess was killed, his wife transferred almost $10,000 from his business account into his personal account and then forged his signature on three checks to herself for $11,000.

"Riess' mode of operation is to befriend women who resemble her and to steal their identity", Bio said at a press conference on Friday.

"I suspect Riess as some point in time with have no resources and she will become more desperate", Marceno said, "and may kill again".
