  • I have my air ticket back to Kenya- Miguna Miguna

From Dubai the fiery and defiant Miguna further accused an officer he only identified as Mr Njihia for "threatening" him and remained adamant that he would not leave Dubai's airport.

"I explained to him that I wouldn't go anywhere with him; that he didn't have my valid Kenyan passport and that he is a criminal who had not only abducted, drugged and forcefully removed me from Kenya against my will and in violation of numerous court orders".

The airport confrontation came two weeks after a surprise meeting between opposition leader Odinga and Kenya's president as they announced a new initiative to heal this East African nation after months of sometimes deadly election turmoil.

The standoff over Miguna, a member of the opposition, risks reigniting tensions and has already set Kenya's government on a collision course with the judiciary.

Mr Orengo, on Tuesday, said they pinned the court orders at "conspicuous places", saying no official was present to receive them. Justice Odunga summoned them to appear in court 10am Thursday for sentencing.

Miguna who was deported from JKIA, had been detained in a toilet at Terminal 2, since Monday, March 26, after he arrived from Canada where he had been deported on February 6.

A court ordered his release and then, when his detention continued, found both Interior minister Fred Matiang'i and police inspector general Joseph Boinnet guilty of contempt of court, then fined them each 200,000 Kenyan shillings ($1,985) for ignoring its ruling. There was no immediate comment from the police.

Lawyers for Miguna said their client was deported despite a court order mandating his release.

He shared photos of himself and his swollen hand, as he lied in a hospital bed moments after arriving at the Dubai Airport.

"I was dragged, assaulted, drugged and forcefully flown to Dubai", he posted. I'm sick. I need medical treatment. "I am sick... you can not force me to walk if I can not walk", he is shown as saying.
