"The government of Ecuador has suspended all systems that allow Julian Assange to communicate outside the Ecuadorian Embassy in London", Ecuador's statement, released Wednesday, reads.
The government said Assange had signed a written document in late 2017 where he pledged not to send messages that might affect Ecuador's worldwide relations.

The initiative is being led by Suzie Dawson, leader of the New Zealand Internet Party, and entrepreneur Kim Dotcom.

British police ended their permanent guard on the embassy in October 2015 but said they would maintain "covert tactics" to arrest Assange if he left. Sweden dropped the case, but Assange remains subject to arrest in Britain for jumping bail.
In response, Assange tweeted that he indeed must be miserable due to being "a political prisoner, detained without charge for 8 years", and that it is better to be a worm, "a healthy creature that invigorates the soil", than a snake.
