The protest briefly delayed the game Thursday while dozens of police attempted to clear entrances.

Demonstrators blocked the entrance to a local arena where an National Basketball Association game between the Sacramento Kings and the Atlanta Hawks was being held, chanting "Black Lives Matter".

Update 5:45 p.m.

Clark was killed by police officers who were responding to a call about a man breaking vehicle windows on the 7500 block of 29th Street in South Sacramento.

"We are at a place of deep pain" because of recent violence directed at black people in Sacramento and elsewhere", said the Rev. Les Simmons, a community leader.

As a result, "their threat radar is really high", said Plumas County sheriff's deputy and special prosecutor Ed Obayashi, who trains officers and testifies in court on police use of force. Officers found Clark and opened fire believing they saw a gun.

"He was a great dad", he recalled of Clark, the father of sons ages 1 and 3. She would not confirm the names of the two officers involved. "Hey! Show me your hands!"

In a news conference late Friday afternoon, Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg said while the investigation is far from complete, regardless of the outcome, this is wrong.

The shooting was captured by the two officers' body cameras and a police helicopter; that footage was released on Wednesday in an effort to be transparent.

Q: What do independent experts say about the videos?

"Any peace officer who has reasonable cause to believe that the person to be arrested has committed a public offense may use reasonable force to effect the arrest, to prevent escape or to overcome resistance".

Clark collapsed on the floor as the officers shot him.

Five minutes after the last bullet is fired, officers make their way over to Clark to check on him.

"But that could be more the product of hope than reality", he said, with the officers still in shock and anxious about their own safety.

A sheriff's helicopter with a heat detecting camera was searching for a burglary suspect breaking windows.

When asked if there's any doubt as to whether Clark was in fact the suspect police were looking for, Matthew said police were still investigating.

Black Lives Matter Sacramento rallied the protesters at City Hall, with many carrying signs reading, "Stop Killing Us".

The deadly encounter occurred behind the home that relatives said Clark shared with his grandparents and siblings.

A new voice can be heard, this time from a woman, apparently among the reinforcements, who called to Clark, wanting to know if he had a weapon.

A sheriff's helicopter hovered, its spotlight sweeping over backyards, as it relayed information about the movement of the suspect, darting through yards and pausing to peer into a auto. Officers did not find a gun at the scene.

Clark was suspected of breaking into cars in a South Sacramento neighborhood. The 911 caller told police that a man had "busted both my truck windows out, and he's in people's backyards right now".

But another video taken from the helicopter does not show the alleged break-in.
