  • Time is now! International Women’s Day 2018

In the past year, we've seen movements such as the Women's March, #MeToo, and #TimesUp gain enormous ground, and we need to carry this momentum over into other areas in the fight for equality not just on a domestic level, but on a global scale.

Today across America, media outlets, businesses, government officials, and schools are celebrating a Communist holiday.

Red is the color of International Women's Day, so throw a little pop of red into your outfit with some jewelry or a handbag. But the day still retains the essence of its Marxist roots by encouraging women to think of themselves as a homogenous class with discrete common interests, in opposition to men's.

2018's theme is #PressforProgress.

UN Women representative M Alison McLean making a presentation at the seminar organised for International Women's Day by WPortfolio in collaboration with the Bureau of Gender Affairs and the National Organisation of Women. It shows support for women and the empowerment of the movement today.

The day was officially recognized by the United Nations in 1975 and has since been embraced by many countries around the world as a way to both honor the women's rights movement and call attention to the current inequalities that women face throughout the world.

In her message for the Day, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Executive Director of UN Women explained that this year's theme captured the life of the women activists whose passion and commitment had brought change over generations and won women's rights.
