Kevin Durant had 37 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots and nearly single-handedly led the undermanned defending champions' fourth-quarter rally past the San Antonio Spurs for a 110-107 win Thursday night after Curry went down early.

Curry (ankle) will not play in Friday's game against the Trail Blazers, Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated reports. Aldridge was able to return after missing just one game, but he didn't look like himself on a night that he scored just seven points. Stephen Curry's ankles have been an issue this season - he sprained one back on December 4 and missed much of that month getting healthy. The Davidson grad tweaked the ankle last week but did not miss any time because they had an extended period of time off between games.

On the season, he is averaging 26.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 6.3 assists.

Golden State remains just half-a-game back of the Rockets for the best record in the National Basketball Association heading into a tough one Friday vs. the Trail Blazers (winners of eight in a row, and sitting at home rested for this one). Worse than losing the race for the top seed in the Western Conference to a red-hot Houston Rocket team. Golden State had an effective field goal percentage of 0.633 (above their season average of 0.581).

After the injury, Curry was taken to the locker room for further evaluation. Curry left the arena Thursday night wearing regular shoes, a positive sign about his ability to get back on the court soon.

ED opioid overdoses rise 30% — CDC
The vast majority of the fatal overdoses, about two-thirds, involve a legal or illegal opioid painkiller, or heroin. But preliminary numbers from CDC show drug overdose deaths in Oklahoma rose by 12 percent, to 844 people.

Australian Patty Mills contributed just eight points and two rebounds for the Spurs, who next face Oklahoma City.

With Curry on the floor, the Warriors are scoring 120.7 points per 100 possessions, according to NBA.com's stats page, an absurd number that is almost seven points higher than the team's league-leading 113.9 points per 100 possessions - a mark that would make the Warriors the greatest offense in NBA history if it holds up. The Warriors then immediately yanked Curry out for Cook. He returned to that game but wound up exiting later in the second half.

For one night, though, the Warriors adjusted fine without Curry.

San Antonio ranks 11th in points off turnovers allowed per game (15.5) while Golden State ranks 28th (18.9). "I haven't heard of anything like this before but I don't think it will keep him out too long and hopefully it gets resolved". He re-injured the ankle the following year, which required a second surgery in a 13-month span.
