Rugby Sevens world series leaders South Africa posted two victories Friday on the opening day of the USA Sevens, while second-place New Zealand split their two matches.

U.S. stormed into the final in Las Vegas on Monday, upsetting the Olympic champs 19-7 in their semi-final clash.

That moved SA to 92 on the standings and extended their lead to 10 points over New Zealand‚ who could only end fifth in Las Vegas.

"The positive two things we are taking out of the tournament is the experience that the young guys got and the fact that we could extend our lead on the leaderboard", Powell said afterwards.

SA coach Neil Powell said prior to the Las Vegas and Vancouver tournaments that two finals would be an acceptable return considering his team was missing six front line players.

"We started slow but we have started picking up step by step".

Macron was due to speak with President Hassan Rouhani of Iran, another key supporter of the Syrian regime, by telephone on Sunday. At least 76 pro-regime fighters and 43 rebels from Jaish al-Islam have also been killed in clashes since Feb 25, it said.

After the break, Willy Ambaka levelled the scores, but it was Argentina who had the last laugh thanks to a Renzo Barbier try with a few minutes left to the final whistle.

"I thought our fellas did really well to get it to extra time".

The USA beat Argentina 28-0 in the final after ousting Fiji 19-7 in the semis to become the fifth different victor in five tournaments this season.

The Blitzbokke have come short on four occasions now, twice losing in the final in Sydney and Hamilton while failing to go beyond the semi-finals in Cape Town and Las Vegas.

"It's going to be another tough tournament, it's always going to be tough out there".
