"Black Panther" Is 10th Highest-Grossing Film In US History

Black Panther has had some school breaks, but played in a more standard time of year when box office sales are historically slower. The latest Marvel film has grossed $501.1 million in North America in 17 days, enough to become the 10th highest grossing film in USA history, so far.

This updated tally pushes Black Panther past the $500M mark at the domestic box office in just its third weekend in theaters, with its domestic total now at $501.1M.

Alighting in second place this weekend is Fox's R-rated espionage thriller Red Sparrow - starring Jennifer Lawrence as a Russian ballerina turned deadly spy - with an estimated $17 million from 3,056 theaters. In its third weekend, the film has grossed $56.2 million in most worldwide markets.
