Flu Season Sets 2 Records In Colorado

  • Flu Cases Rising in Texas Panhandle

According to statistics from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), as of January 28 Augusta Health has reported 821 cases of flu across its network of doctors and has since imposed visitor restrictions to protect patients and staff.

The flu remains considered widespread across ME, but the decrease in numbers may indicate the spread of the virus is slowing.

"We participate in the state surveillance for the flu, and so we do keep track of what we call an influenza-like illness that has to meet certain criteria-you know, fever, body aches, sore throat, chills-and... usually we report maybe 1 or 2 cases to the state, and it starts in October and it goes till May... and so, for example, last week..." But the part that anxious him most was the chance that the vaccine wouldn't perform well in an H1N1-dominated season and that such a failure might undercut flu vaccination coverage, in general.

The most common strain of influenza this season is H3N2, which has a more severe impact on the elderly and very young, according to officials.

That recommendation holds, the CDC says, because the vaccine is more effective against the three other major strains of flu virus, potentially preventing a second round of flu caused by another strain.

"Hopefully, the study will help to increase immunization rates of pregnant women as they - and the fetus they are carrying - are at particular risk for severe complications of these vaccine-preventable infections", said Dr. Amesh Adalja, a senior scholar with the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security.

Turkey Vows To Press On With Syria Offensive
"This is part of the mission given to our intelligence organization", Kalın told reporters at a press conference on February 21. Why is the Syrian government intervening? "Moscow holds numerous cards and has, on balance, been playing them well".

"With pediatric age groups when you get influenza their immune system will be weakened by the influenza virus and that will make them vulnerable to bacterial infections", said Dr. Shokr.

Lentz said 180 people were vaccinated during this event.

"It's not necessarily a bad thing because the Flu B tends to respond better to the vaccination itself over Flu A, so even though we're starting to see an increase in Flu B, it's not alarming", Smith said. Flu shots were also offered in Holloway Hall in October. The flu vaccine changes from year to year, depending on what flu bugs are going around.

The flu shot also helps their baby.

That makes it better than nothing, panel members said. We can all work together to make our campus community a healthier place.
