Tsunami advisories were canceled overnight for Puerto Rico and other parts of the Caribbean after a powerful natural disaster struck in the Caribbean Sea.

A magnitude 7.6 quake has struck near the coast of Honduras, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS), which said it was registered at 20:50 local time.

The natural disaster, which struck about 125 miles north of Honduras shook the mainland, but there were no early reports of serious damage or casualties.

Shaking was registered across the nation of Honduras and there were reports of cracked homes in Colon and Atlantida provinces along the northern coast and eastern Honduras, according to officials.

The quake, which was initially reported as having a 7.8 magnitude, occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, or 6 miles, on Tuesday night.
