The two senators want the transcript of the committee's interview with Glenn Simpson, a founder of Fusion GPS, released.

The dossier was reportedly the result of an investigation initially funded by Republicans who were seeking to block Mr Trump from becoming the party's presidential candidate, before being taken over by Democrats after his nomination.

Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein released a transcript of the interview on Tuesday, after repeated disagreements with Republicans on the committee.

"The only way to set the record straight is to make the transcript public", she said.

"The transcript of Glenn Simpson's lengthy responses to the Senate Judiciary Committee's questioning speaks for itself", Fusion GPS said.

The 35-page report drew on information from Russian contacts and concluded that Russia had been "cultivating, supporting and assisting" Trump for at least five years and fed his campaign "valuable intelligence" about Clinton.

The transcript reveals Mr Simpson also told the committee that Mr Steele was the "lead Russianist at MI6 prior to leaving" and was someone he had worked with since 2009.

Popovich said before Sunday's game in Portland he wasn't sure whether Leonard would play at any point during the Spurs' road trip. As the second half dawns Monday night, the Spurs' top priority is getting everyone healthy, especially, of course, Leonard.

The so-called "Steele dossier" is known for its shocking claims, including that the Trump campaign coordinated with Russian Federation - something Mr Trump has repeatedly denied.

Feinstein made the transcript public over the objections of Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, who called the move "confounding" in a statement shortly after Feinstein made it public. "Her action undermines the integrity of the committee's oversight work and jeopardizes its ability to secure candid voluntary testimony relating to the independent recollections of future witnesses".

"Essentially what he told me was they had other intelligence about this matter from an internal Trump campaign source", Simpson said. He has also talked to the House and Senate intelligence committees.

"My understanding was that they believed Chris at this point - that they believed Chris's (Steele's) information might be credible because they had other intelligence that indicated the same thing and one of those pieces of intelligence was a human source from inside the Trump organization", Simpson said. "The American people deserve the opportunity to see what he said and judge for themselves", said Feinstein. He invited Mr. Simpson to instead testify publicly. "Feinstein for her courage". He is referring to special counsel Robert Mueller, who is also investigating the Russian meddling.

Last week, Grassley and fellow Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley, issued a criminal referral last week for Steele, alleging the committee had reason to believe that the former spy had lied to authorities about his conversations with the press regarding the dossier.

Mr Simpson declined to say who he suspected the whistle-blower to be, but did not think it was a source of Mr Steele's.
