Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer has made a decision to retire after 14 National Football League seasons.
The 65-year-old just completed his fifth season with the Cardinals, who finished with an 8-8 mark.
Arizona's season arguably ended in Week 1 when David Johnson, left the game with a dislocated wrist. In fact, one coach has already been let go as the Detroit Lions fired head coach Jim Caldwell early this morning after four seasons after both Jack Del Rio and Chuck Pagano were fired yesterday by the Oakland Raiders and Indianapolis Colts, respectively.
Arians has had health issues in recent years, including treatment for diverticulitis and a successful fight against kidney cancer last off-season.
Of the reason for the retirement, Arians said, "Family's a big one". Pagano also did not possess any experience as a head coach when the Colts hired him on January 25, 2012.

The Packers will begin a search for a new general manager as Thompson shifts to a new role within the organization.
After five seasons as the Steelers offensive coordinator, Arians rejoined the Colts in 2012 as the offensive coordinator.
As for the candidates the Cardinals will seek to interview, Arizona Sports' Mike Jurecki reported six coordinators or positions from other teams Arizona will seek permission to interview.
The Cincinnati Bengals could be another, with the long-serving Marvin Lewis out of contract, but Hue Jackson is expected to remain with Cleveland despite their 0-16 season and the Denver Broncos have assured Vance Joseph his job is safe. Arians will certainly be missed in Arizona, and the Cardinals won't be the same without him. One suspects that the Cardinals would like to keep the well-regarded coach, who is a two-time AP Coach of the Year, but it seems that his sights are set on retirement.
