At least two people died Friday when a gunman opened fire at a Long Beach, Calif., law office, police said.

Long Beach police on Friday called the shooting "workplace violence".

A third person was shot and is stable at a local hospital, according to the Long Beach mayor, who said this was a workplace shooting. Reports also suggested that the gunman was dead.

The incident occurred about 2:30 p.m.in the Bixby Knolls area.

Video shows people running from an unmarked building believed to house law offices. Police also went to a satellite office of the same law firm at 3925 Atlantic Ave. While they have found multiple casualties, the police said that they longer considered it to be an active shooting scene. Long Beach Boulevard north of Roosevelt Road has been closed to vehicles traveling north. Carson Street is shut in both directions at Long Beach Boulevard.

Police blocked off the area and several ambulances were seen at the scene.

It also said there was a separate attack on a store in the same neighborhood of Helwan that killed two Copts. The gunman had tried to storm the building when police shot him dead, police officials said.
